When looking for a company to print their labels, Four Fires Meadery found one across the river in Perrysburg. After a tour of Grace Imaging facilities and viewing all the label options, Josh and Bob became partners in creating beautiful labels.
Toledo’s first Meadery started with four friends experimenting in their garage in Maumee, Ohio. Four Fires Meadery name was founded by recognizing the three native tribes of Northern Ohio; Chippewa, Ottawa and Potawatomi, who combined created The Council of Three Fires. But since there are four friends they called their new company Four Fires Meadery.
Four Fire meads have a different variety of ingredients, which range from honey, cranberry, blueberry and vanilla bean. Slow Jamz – Blackberry, Shogun Barista, and Lost in Translation are only three of the meads that are available in the Toledo area.
How do you choose a label company that enables you to stay with your company objective to support your local community? Several people who Josh talked to recommended online printing services located in other states. But wanting to stay with their company’s philosophy to support local business, Josh found Grace Imaging through an internet search. Finding out that another local distillery used them with positive results, Josh reached out to Grace Imaging and was invited to take a tour of the printing facilities to see their capabilities and different processes. “From that point, I think we were pretty much sold on using Grace for our labels,” Josh said.
Josh and team found their label artist through a t-shirt art contest. So keeping with the uniqueness of the design, Metallic White Plating (BOPP) was the perfect solution for the labels. Grace Imaging skillfully identified and masked the areas of the label that need to stay shiny from the rest of the artwork. Once the different areas have been separated, they applied different shades with a rich metallic effect without needing special foils. Next, a white ink overlay was applied to the areas of the label that is not shiny, creating the white plate ink block. Finally, we print the design by using our 7-color process. The areas not covered with the white ink layer allowed for the transparent ink to cover the silver poly material which created the metallic appearance you see in the Four Fires Meadery labels.
“We regularly get compliments on our labels, in particular the art.” Josh – Four Fires Meadery
“What stands out for me with Grace is their interest in helping out a small local business and their quality of work. They made it an immediate point to develop a more personal relationship which is way better than emailing a company hundreds of miles away with people you don’t know. It’s great when you know you have someone on your side and always willing to help with whatever they can. I always recommend Grace to anyone looking for label solutions, regardless of where they are since Grace can ship anywhere.” Josh – Four Fires Meadery
